Exciting encounters in the semifinals of the 8th Women’s Championship
The semifinals of the eighth West Asian Women’s Championship, currently taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, are set to feature two exciting matches.
On February 27, 2024, at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, the first semifinal between Jordan and Palestine will kick off at 5:00 PM Saudi time, followed by the second semifinal between Nepal and Lebanon at 8:00 PM.
The winning teams from these semifinal matches will advance to the final scheduled on February 29, 2024, also at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.
This comes after the completion of the third and final round of Group B matches held at the secondary field of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah on February 24, 2024.
Syria defeated Iraq 3-0 (first half 1-0) with goals from Maria Elias, Nour Mustafa, and Razzan Khondi in the 38th, 50th, and 80th minutes, respectively.
In another match, Nepal secured a 4-0 victory over the Palestinian team (first half 1-0). Sabetra Bhandari scored in the 41st and 79th minutes, Rekha Boddle in the 60th minute, and Gita Rana in the 79th minute through a penalty kick.
Nepal topped the group standings with 9 points, followed by Palestine in second place (6 points), Syria in third place (3 points), and Iraq in fourth place with no points.
On the other hand, in Group A, Jordan topped the standings with a perfect record of 9 points after the final round. Lebanon secured second place with 6 points, followed by Guam in third place (3 points), and Saudi Arabia in fourth place.
In the initial matches of Group B, Nepal defeated Syria 4-1, while Palestine won against Iraq 3-0 in the first round. In the second round, Nepal defeated Iraq 5-0, and Palestine won against Syria 1-0.
In Group A’s first round, Lebanon won against Guam 4-3, and Jordan secured a 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabia. In the second round, Lebanon won against Saudi Arabia 3-2, and Jordan won against Guam 3-0.
In the third round, Jordan won against Lebanon 2-0, and Guam secured a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.
