Jordan confirms its leadership in the 8th women’s championship

The Jordanian national team confirmed its leadership in Group A within the eighth West Asian Women’s Football Championship hosted by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation until the 29th of this month.

The Jordanian team succeeded in defeating the Lebanese team with a score of 2-0 (first half 0-0), with goals scored by Zeina Hassan and Lana Firas in the 65th and 81st minutes, respectively.

The match took place on February 23, 2024, at the second field of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, as part of the third and final round of Group A.

In another match in the same group, Guam won against the Saudi team 2-0 (first half 2-0) with goals from Maria Annaya in the 22nd and 42nd minutes.

The Jordanian national team topped the standings of Group A with a perfect score of 9 points at the end of the last round, followed by Lebanon in second place with 6 points. Both teams advance to the semi-finals.

Guam is in third place with 3 points, and the Saudi team is in fourth place.In the first round, Lebanon won against Guam 4-3, and Jordan won against Saudi Arabia 3-1.

In the second round, Lebanon defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2, and Jordan won against Guam 3-0.

The group stage concludes on February 24 with two matches in the third and final round of Group B. Syria will face Iraq at 5:00 PM, and Palestine will play against Nepal at 8:00 PM.

Nepal tops the Group B standings with 6 points, followed by Palestine in second place with 6 points. The Syrian national team is in third place, and Iraq is in fourth place without any points.

In the first round, Nepal won against Syria 4-1, and Palestine defeated Iraq 3-0. In the second round, Nepal won against Iraq 5-0, and Palestine overcame Syria 1-0.

After a break on February 25 and 26, the tournament will resume on February 27 with the semi-final matches between the top team in Group A and the second team in Group B, and the top team in Group B against the second team in Group A.

The winners will then meet in the final on February 29.
