Nepal and Palestine are leading their group in the 8th women’s championship

On February 22, 2024, the second-round matches of Group 2 in the Eighth West Asian Women’s Championship were completed.

The tournament is hosted by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation until the 29th of the same month.

Two matches were held consecutively at the secondary field of the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, the first between Nepal and Iraq, and the second between Palestine and Syria.

Nepal’s national team defeated Iraq 5-0 (first half 0-0). Sabitra Bhandari scored goals in the 14th, 16th, 37th, 45th, and 80th minutes, leading the list of top scorers with a total of 6 goals.

In contrast, the Palestinian national team surpassed Syria 1-0 (first half 0-0). Miraal Qassis scored the goal in the 88th minute.

With these results, the Nepali team tops the standings with 6 points, followed by Palestine in second place (6 points), and the Syrian team in third place, with Iraq in fourth place without any points.In the first round, Nepal defeated Syria 4-1, and Palestine defeated Iraq 3-0.

The tournament continues on February 23, where Lebanon will face Jordan at 5:00 PM Saudi time, followed by the Saudi Arabia-Guam match at 8:00 PM.The Jordanian national team currently leads Group 1 with 6 points, followed by Lebanon (6 points), Guam in third place, and Saudi Arabia in fourth place.

In the first round, Lebanon won against Guam 4-3, and Jordan won against Saudi Arabia 3-2. In the second round, Jordan won against Guam 3-0, and Lebanon won against Saudi Arabia 3-2.

The group stage concludes on February 24 with two more matches: Syria vs. Iraq and Palestine vs. Nepal.The tournament then takes a break on February 25 and 26, followed by the quarter-final matches on February 27, and finally, the final match on February 29.
