positive start for Nepal and Palestine in the 8th Women’s Championship

The national teams of Nepal and Palestine made a positive start to their journey in the 8th West Asian Women’s Football Championship hosted by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation until February 29, 2024.On February 20, the first-round matches of Group B were played consecutively at the secondary field of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

In the first match, Nepal defeated Syria 4-1 (first half 3-1), with Syria’s goal scored by Gita Rana (43, own goal), while Nepal’s goals were scored by Amisha Karmi (10), Anita Bisnet (13), Sapitra Bhandari (19), and Rekha Poudel (69).In the second match, Palestine won against Iraq 3-0 (first half 0-0).

Palestine’s goals were scored by Nour Yousef in the 64th and 65th minutes, and Aya Abd (69).With these results, the Nepali national team tops the Group B standings with 3 points, followed by the Palestinian national team with 3 points on goal difference.

The Syrian national team is in third place, while the Iraqi national team is in fourth place.

The competition continues on February 21 with two matches in the second round of Group A, where Lebanon and Saudi Arabia will play at 5:00 PM Saudi time, followed by the match between the Jordanian national team and Guam at 8:00 PM.

The Jordanian national team currently leads the Group A standings with 3 points, narrowly ahead of the Lebanese national team on goal difference. Guam is in third place, and the Saudi national team is in fourth place.

The first round saw Jordan defeat Saudi Arabia 3-1, and Lebanon defeat Guam 4-3.The tournament progresses on February 22, with matches between the national teams of Iraq and Nepal on one side and Syria and Palestine on the other.

Following that, Lebanon will face Jordan, and Saudi Arabia will meet Guam, concluding the group stage matches on February 24 with two games: Syria vs. Iraq and Palestine vs. Nepal.

After a break on February 25 and 26, the championship resumes on February 27 with the quarterfinal matches and concludes with the final match on February 29.
