Reinforcement and compensation… the slogan for the second round of the U23 Championship

The teams will raise the slogans of reinforcement and compensation when they compete today, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in the second round of the WAFF Under-23 Championship, which is hosted by the Saudi Federation in Dammam and Al-Khobar until the 12th of this month.

The teams that won in the first round, hope to repeat the scenario in their matches today in an attempt to approach the semi-finals, and in return those who stumbled either by a loss or a draw seek to correct the situation quickly and return to compete for a qualifying position.

The hosts, Saudi Arabia, will make their first appearance today, after their rest in the last round, amid great ambitions to achieve a positive start.

In general, the second round will witness five matches, 3 of which will be played at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium, which are between: Oman and Yemen at 3.30 pm, Kuwait and Jordan at 6.30 pm, Iraq and the Emirates at 9.30 pm, while Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium will host the matches of Syria and Saudi Arabia at 5:45 pm, Lebanon and Palestine at 8:45 pm.

The first round resulted in the victory of the Omani team against its Jordanian counterpart with a single goal, and the Yemeni and Kuwaiti teams tied 1-1.

In the second group, the UAE team defeated the Lebanese team with three goals nul and the Iraqi team defeated its Palestinian counterpart by a lone goal.

In their turn, the Syrian team came out with a precious victory at the expense of its Bahraini counterpart 4-1, in a match for the third group.

The group stage is held in a league system of one stage, so that the champions of each group, along with the best second-placed team, qualify for the semi-finals.
