U-23 Draw Championship

The draw for the second U-23 WAFF Championship, hosted by the Saudi Federation in Dammam from 4 to 12 October 2021, was drawn on Sunday 12 September 2021.

The draw was held at the headquarters of the West Asian Federation in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and its activities were broadcast directly through the Federation’s channel on YouTube, and resulted in the distribution of the 11 participating teams into three groups, so that two groups included 4 teams in each, while the third consisted of 3 teams.

The first group included the teams of Jordan, Yemen, Kuwait and Oman, while the second group: Palestine, the Emirates, Lebanon and Iraq, while the host Saudi team came within the third group, which included Bahrain and Syria.

The Draw system was adopted so that the teams that fell in the same group in the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Cup finals scheduled in Uzbekistan 2022, were placed in different groups in the first round of the WAFF Championship.

In addition, the first edition of the WAFF U-23 Championship was held in Qatar in 2015, and saw the participation of the winning teams of Iran, Syria (runner-up), Qatar (third), Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The WAFF will later distribute the final schedule for the tournament, which includes the timing of the matches and the stadiums they will host.
