The General Assembly approves the electoral system of the Federation

The General Assembly of the West Asian Football federation (WAFF), approved the electoral system during its 11th meeting, which was held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 under the chairmanship of HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein.
 
The General Assembly, in the meeting held via video conference, also approved the decision of the Executive Committee at its last meeting to cancel the sentence (or holds the same nationality) from the third item of Article (47,5), which states: (No person may be a member of the The Elections Committee, where there are realistic justifications for questioning its impartiality), to then approve the formation of the Election Committee of the WAFF, which includes Walid Jaber – Lebanon as President, Fouad Qaradah – Jordan as Vice President, and members: Qais Aswad – Iraq, Abdel Moneim Suwaidan – UAE, Fahad Barbaa – Saudi Arabia.
 
WAFF prepared its electoral system, in accordance with the electoral system of the AFC, and its draft was presented to the Legal Committee of WAFF for study and discussion at its previous meeting, and then approved by the Legal Committee for submission to the General Assembly for approval.
 
In addition, His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, at the meeting, which was attended by Sheikh Salem Al Wahaibi, Second Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of WAFF – President of the Omani Federation, welcomed the members of the General Assembly, and conveyed through them the greetings of the WAFF family and his wishes for success to all member associations during the championships that Its national teams are currently playing it, which is accepted by both genders, especially in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2021 Arab Cup.
 
His Highness expressed his hope that the coming days will witness more openness at the level of football activities in the region and the world alike, after the challenges imposed by the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.
 
The meeting was held in the presence of representatives of member associations authorized to vote: Mr. Mohammed Hazam Al Dhaheri / UAE, Ms. Samar Nassar / Jordan, Honorable Lujaina Al Zaabiah / Oman, Mr. Ibrahim Al Buainain / Bahrain, Dr. Khaled AlThubaiti / Saudi arabia, dr. Zakaria kanat/ Syria, Mr. Firas Abu Hilal / Palestine, Mr. Hani Al Raisi / Qatar, Mr. Ahmed Al-Enezi / Kuwait, Mr. Hashem Haidar / Lebanon, Mr. Hassan Bashanfar / Yemen.
 
After that, the General secretary of WAFF, Khalil Al Salem, began with the agenda of the meeting and presented a report on the activities held by the federation since the last meeting until now, which included the first and second E-waff football tournaments that were held in April and June 2021 respectively, in addition to a series of meetings held by WAFF committees, the training and educational workshops, in addition to the agreements concluded.
 
In this context, Al Salem indicated that the WAFF, in light of the pause imposed by the Corona pandemic, was keen on the sustainability of its activities, specifically in the educational and training aspect or electronic tournaments, which was praised and praised by the General Assembly.
 
In return, the General Assembly approved the report of the General secretary on the activities, the financial statements and the auditors’ report of the WAFF for the year 2020.
 
In the end, Al Salem spoke about the tournaments expected to be organized by the WAFF later, which is the second WAFF Championship U-23 from 4 to 12 October 2021 and the 8th U15 championship from 15 to 25 October 2021, hosted by Saudi Arabia, along with the second U20 championship from 20 to 30 November 2021 in Erbil, in addition to the women’s championships.
 
Al Salem hoped that these tournaments would be a strong station to restore normal life to regional competitions, and he also valued the support and cooperation of all member associations for their participation in the activities of the WAFF.
