The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) has invited all associations to participate in the tenth men’s championship scheduled from March 20 to April 2, 2023, which will be hosted by the UAE.

Registration for the tournament, which was scheduled for the beginning of 2021, will be closed no later than October 31, 2021, before it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which imposed many stops on football activities at various levels.

WAFF revealed in its address to the West Asian associations, that the date of the tournament has been fixed during the period from March 20 to April 2, 2023, after many coordination meetings with various parties to reschedule it and choose its date in line with all the continental and international duties.

WAFF indicated that this date was set for the tournament after considering all national teams’ commitment during the upcoming period and after a deep study of the tournament agenda for the next three years, which includes the participation of many teams in the region in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers, whose matches will be held starting from September 2021 to March 2022, in addition to the intercontinental play-off that will be held during June 2022, in addition to the participation of the rest of the teams to participate in the final stages of qualifying for the Asian Cup for men.

The date of the tournament was also chosen to coincide with the FIFA international window scheduled for the month of March 2023 so that the teams could field their first team and all the professional players, in addition to the fact that the tournament will be a preparation for the Asian Cup for men scheduled during the months of June and July 2023.

The men’s championship was launched in 2000 in Jordan, which carried a special character at the time when it came as a tribute to the memory of the late King Hussein bin Talal, may God have mercy on him, to bear the name “Al-Hussein”, which remained with it throughout the tournament copies.

The second edition of the tournament was held in 2002 in Syria, then Iran hosted the third edition in 2004, while the fourth was held in Jordan in 2007, and the fifth took place in Iran in 2008, after which Jordan hosted the sixth edition in 2010, then Kuwait for the seventh edition in 2012, and after that was the eighth in Qatar in 2014, and finally in Iraq in 2019.
