The UAE national team took fifth place in the Waff U18 championship after defeating Kuwait who is in sixth place now, by a score of 2-0 (HT 1-0) in Sunday’s match, at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Bahrain.

The goals were scored by Rawan Al-Hamadi in the 42nd minute and Shahad Alzarakan (59).

Also, UAE was ranked third in group (A) composed of Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq, after they defeated Iraq in the first round 4-2 and lost in the second against Lebanon 3-1, and drew in the third with Jordan 0-0.

On the other hand, Kuwait came third in the second group(B) which was led by Bahrain, followed by Palestine in second, after their loss in the first and second rounds to Palestine 7-0, and Bahrain 4-1.

Furthermore, Lebanon and Bahrain will meet in the final match of the championship at 20:30 tomorrow, Monday, January 6 at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium, while Jordan faces Palestine at 17:30 of the same day to determine the third and fourth places.

According to the tournament system, in case the original time ends in a draw, the penalty shootout is directly resorted to, and the same applies to the matches for determining the fifth, sixth, third, and fourth places.

The Jordanian national team won the title of the first edition of the 1st WAFF U-18 that was held in Lebanon in August 2018, with a score of 6 points, while Lebanon came second with 3 points, and Palestine finished last without points.
