Amman: Palestine were eye-to-eye with leaders Jordan in the West Asian Football Federation Women’s Championship as they downed Bahrain 4-0 at Petra Stadium on Thursday.

The result afforded the Palestinians their second win following their beating Qatar by the same scoreline in their campaign opener on Tuesday and accumulated all six pints from their games.

However, Nasser Beitello-led Palestine sit second below hosts Jordan because of goal difference, with the Jordanians also recording their second win through a 7-0 thumping of Qatar in another match of the day.

Striker Natali Shaheen opened the scoring 25 minutes into the game before midfielder Talin Abughazala doubled the lead three minutes after the interval.

Walaa Hussein took the game beyond the Bahrainis’ reach further as she scored a double with contributions on 84 and 90 minutes.

The title of the fifth edition of the competition will be decided in the match between Jordan and Palestine on Sunday.

Bahrain, who are in the third spot, will face off with bottom-of-the-table Qatar in Sunday’s later match.
